Achtung!

Well, I think this news is worth sharing since, man, I think this is waaaaay better than spending 4 hours in a hot tub with Gerard and Frank :P

People, I have a bun in me oven.

Yes. After 4 freakin years of waiting, fighting, sulking and whatnot, the two lines are here again. I just hoped that this will turn out as expected.

I've been longing for our second child for quite some time now, but the man of the house wants to wait until my son is old enough to take care of himself, I dunno. He's turning 5 this year.

I think we're pretty settled on only having the one. However, who knows.

Biggest issue of course is naming them because my two friends have stolen my two favourite girls names.

Rebecca (although I'd spell it Rebekah because I prefer the Hebrew spelling).
Hannah (another Hebrew name. I'm not Jewish, but I like old fashioned names).

So, I was thinking and at 3am I came up with this.

My Mam is Mary Ann. My grandma was Mary and Dave's mum's middle name is Ann. I like Maya -for me taken from MArY Ann but it actually means illusion. It's a cross cultural name as well. http://www.babynamesworld.com/meaning_of_Maya.html

That's why I never share their names with my friends (at least until I'm pretty sure it's a girl anyway), and besides, as much as I wanted a baby girl, my hubby prefers to have another son.

Maya is a cool name for a girl. And Hannah is the name of Clive Owen's daughter :)

For us, the biggest issue is trying to find a trustworthy childminder. My MIL takes care of my son right now, but I think we're thinking of finding a helper. My hubby doesn't believe in nurseries, though, but I don't know if he'd change his mind.

They used them without knowing I liked them!

I'm hoping that I can go part time - working as a teacher it's a fairly easy thing to do. I'd like to go back and work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then have the long weekend till they're in school at least. That I think gives good parent balance. Dave would take either a Saturday or Sunday as 'Key Parent' to give him time to spend quality time.

My mam was a childminder, as was Dave's mum. You need a good one though. I'm very lucky in that my school has a nursery on site! (Staffed with ex-pupils which is worrying, but at least they're close).

You're making me feel broody.

Plus, My Dave is out in the garden doing manly things (see my LJ) and that's making me all.. OOh - Manly Man!

Lucky you. Our company doesn't provide one because the age gap among the staffs are so wide! We are some of the newer generations while most of the older staffs are either grandparents or sending off their kids to college or counting the days to retirement.

In a totally different direction, we spend a lot of time in Tulum on the Costa Maya, and without doubt the Mayan population is the friendliest, most welcoming culture imaginable. It would be a great omen to have that sort of warmth and history attached to a name.
